Bizarre
No idea how this helps anything? Time will tell.
But I did spend a dollar to do it.

All Things Made Light
What is it to be happy? It is to forget ourselves in these moments. Life is delivering exactly what we need, whether we realize it at the time or not. We may stop wanting. The things that compose us are distributed across the shadows of these moments, where we sink into a field of grass, float up into the sky from a mountain top, or fly off in a breeze with the scent of honeysuckle. We...

What does love feel like?
“Like a great misfortune, a monstrous parasite, a permanent state of emergency that ruins all small pleasures.”
-From Slavoj Zizek, age 59.
Taken from a critical but depressing interview. Read it. It’s, in the least, entertaining.

Analog Sundays
My connectedness with the world is getting exhausting. If you’re reading this, you’re probably just as bad as I am. It’s my job, its ingrained in my social life, etc. I’m standing up against this great injustice and the frustrations with always being connected will end.
On sundays.
I hope to return to reality every once a week. In effort to do that, I’m going to...
Winter is coming
I’m reblogging myself but it’s pertinent then as it is again now. I first wrote it on Oct. 10th, 2010. So, just under a year ago. I’ve changed the name from “Oncoming Winter” to “Winter is coming.”
Its getting colder outside. It marks the return of sweaters, and the comfort in weight of a cold weather month’s bed spread. Things change colors and the air...

Why I'll never cook (why cooking will save me)
“What cooking did for me cannot be overstated. It was my first constructive hobby, my first real learned craft. It was an organizing principle for seeing the cities in which I lived as well as those I visited. It became the basis for socializing as an adult. Instead of smoking pot and eating junk food, I was learning to sauté chicken breasts, serve them with green-peppercorn cream sauce,...

Long reads →
I’ve noticed on weekends I become desperate for longer form journalism. I get tired of reading tweets, status updates, quotes. It’s becoming increasing obvious that we need to have access to thoughts, stories and profiles with actual adverbs, adjectives and a logical progression. So, I fortunately found this link. I managed to waste (a relative term) a lot of time already on exactly...
Lifetime Value →
A really interesting concept of what the value of a customer is. For Starbucks, each average customer is worth $14,000 over 20 years.
Salt Lake City
I did some quick numbers of Salt Lake City, specifically looking at 20-40 year olds and mormons.
The population of Utah in 2010 was 2,763,000.
In the Salt Lake Metropolitan area the population in 2010 was 1,124,000.
For the ages of 20-40 years old in Utah the population was about 850,000.
If you extrapolate Utah’s population that lives in the Salt Lake Metro area, the population of...

WHAT THEY'RE "PROTECTING" US FROM
“It’s a choice whether you, or anyone else, wants to accept the falsehood that liberal values are somehow in contradiction with business success at a global scale. Indeed, it would seem that many who claim to be pro-business are trying to “save” us from exactly the inclusive, creative, tolerant values that have made America’s most successful company possible. I side...

Idea: Objective object status
So, twitter, facebook and now google all have the status update feature in their social features. Premise is easy: if you do something and feel compelled, you update your status to tell the world.
Sometimes companies have profiles and update the status of the company. But its like PR. They can say anything.
What if your status update was updated by everyone but yourself. I’ve tried it out...
